Director or Delivery Driver? Gary will tell you he’s just the delivery driver but he is being humble. He started the company from his back room in Wakefield and seen its growth all the way to our now purpose built warehouse facility with brand new office and Trade Counter.
Gary has a regular Wednesday run to different parts of the country and is always keen to meet new customers. If you are in the North East, North West or Cheshire drop us a line and we’ll see if he is passing and you can procure some goods from our purpose built Mercedes van.
Gary’s technical knowledge, as you would expect, is second to none. If you need a part identifying or need to know which pod goes with which vehicle then Gary is your man. When he isn’t working Gary likes to indulge the other passion in his life, motor racing.
Gordon joined the company in September 2017 with a brief to expand the company’s digital footprint whilst still maintaining the high standards of customer service that the company had built a reputation on. This new website is the culmination of that work! Since joining Gordon has also successfully rebranded our Facebook page, set up the online side of the business, helped to recruit a new Warehouse Manager, an admin assistant, and has recently successfully applied for a kickstart grant to help a young person back into work.
Whilst your are most likely to get Gordon on the phone, he is not the person to ask for technical advice. He can’t even put a shelf up straight and receives regular warehouse bans, the most recent for driving into the roller shutter door! However if you want to make a payment (Gordons’ favourite type of call) or place an order then you are in capable hands.
When he isn’t working Gordon can usually be found cycling the lanes around the district. He has completed the London to Paris cycle ride, raising £1000 for Prostate Cancer research in the process and has also completed the Ride London 100. Gordon also enjoys playing video games (a hobby he is far too old for according to the rest of the office), spending time with his wife in their camper van enjoying a nice glass of red.
Warehouse Manager David joined the company in March 2018. David comes with a wealth for Warehousing experience. He is responsible for looking after the warehouse, maintaining and ordering replacement stock, and if you have received a parcel from us the chances are it has been wrapped, expertly, by him. His technical knowledge, unlike Gordon, is second to none and if you need something fixing David is your man.
He is also a dab hand at maintaining vehicles, and he looks after the companies fleet of vans. He also washes everyone’s cars (time permitting of course!) David is always on the lookout for new products to add to our ever-growing portfolio of parts, and no job is too big or too small for him. David loves a challenge and we are always looking for ways to catch him out when it comes to wrapping some of our oversized parts but so far he has always been able to meet, and usually exceed, the challenge.
He is also in charge of the Trade Counter and if you are collecting your order be sure to sample one of his world-renowned coffees.
Amy started here at Specialized in October 2021. She is responsible for a multitude of tasks including her administrative duties, which can be answering emails, dealing with payments or even international orders, as well as being one of the people to take your phone calls alongside Gordon. Amy’s product knowledge is excellent with her being the person who created our amazing catalogue and she may even be able to help you if you have any questions in another language. Amy speaks Spanish on a fluent level, basic French and is currently in the process of teaching herself German!
When she isn’t behind her desk with a cup of tea in hand, Amy likes to spend her free time with her 3 family dogs Jac, Milly and AJ. She also isn’t impartial to a night out partying with her friends on a weekend, however only when she’s not online clothes shopping or down at the local sports clubs watching Rugby or Cricket.
In December 2020 she completed running 50 miles in the month in aid of cancer research and raised £2,250 and then took on running 100km in a month in October 2021 raising £678 for Prostate Cancer, as well as completing a Marathon hike round the Yorkshire dales in July 2022, raising a further £600 in aid of Macmillan Cancer care.
