Director, delivery driver, or coffee maker? Gary might modestly describe himself as the one in charge of deliveries and the morning brews—but there’s much more to his story.
Gary founded Specialized Horsebox Components nearly 20 years ago, starting from a back room in Wakefield. Since then, he has overseen the company’s growth into the thriving business it is today, now operating from a purpose-built warehouse facility complete with offices and a trade counter.
Although Gary has taken a step back from his regular Wednesday delivery runs—handing them over to our official driver—he still enjoys getting out on the road when time allows to catch up with customers. Day to day, he remains hands-on across all areas of the business, from working with suppliers to secure the best products and prices, to helping out in the warehouse (often on the forklift), and even the occasional bit of office work—closely supervised, of course!
With unrivalled technical knowledge, Gary is the go-to expert for identifying parts and matching the right components to the right vehicles. If you have a question, chances are Gary will have the answer.
Outside of work, Gary enjoys pursuing his other passion—motor racing.
David joined Specialized Horsebox Components in March 2018 as our Warehouse Manager, bringing with him a wealth of experience in warehousing and logistics. He is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the warehouse, managing stock levels, and ensuring all orders are prepared and dispatched efficiently. If you’ve received a parcel from us, there’s a good chance it’s been expertly packed by David himself.
With outstanding technical knowledge, David is the go-to person for problem-solving and repairs—if something needs fixing, he’s the one to ask.
In addition to his warehouse responsibilities, David also maintains our fleet of company vehicles and is always happy to lend a hand—often going the extra mile, even helping keep everyone’s cars clean when time allows. He is constantly on the lookout for new and innovative products to add to our growing range, and no task is ever too big or too small.
David thrives on a challenge, and while we occasionally try to test his skills—especially when it comes to packaging oversized items—he consistently rises to the occasion and exceeds expectations.
You’ll also find David running our trade counter. If you’re collecting an order, you might even be treated to one of his well-known teas or coffees—widely considered the best brew in the company!
Amy joined Specialized Horsebox Components in October 2021 and plays a vital role across many areas of the business. She is often one of the friendly voices you’ll hear on the phone, alongside Molly, and is involved in a wide range of responsibilities—from handling emails and managing international shipments to overseeing accounts and supporting daily operations.
Amy also leads our social media and marketing, so be sure to show your support by following us on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
With excellent product knowledge, Amy was instrumental in creating our comprehensive catalogue and continues to manage and maintain our website. She’s always on hand to help with customer enquiries—and may even assist you in another language, as she speaks fluent Spanish and has a basic understanding of French.
Outside of work, Amy enjoys spending time with her family and her ever-growing collection of dogs. Whether relaxing with a coffee in hand or heading out for a weekend with friends, she makes the most of her downtime.
Amy has also taken on some impressive fundraising challenges, including running 50 miles in a month for Cancer Research UK, raising £2,250, followed by 100km in a month for Prostate Cancer UK, raising £678. In July 2022, she completed a marathon hike through the Yorkshire Dales, raising a further £600 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Molly joined the team in December 2024 as our Administrative Assistant and quickly became a key part of our day-to-day operations. She is responsible for processing all online orders, as well as handling customer enquiries via email and phone.
While Molly is still developing her technical knowledge of our products, she more than makes up for it with her strong equestrian background—the most extensive in the team! She’s continually learning and expanding her expertise every day.
Don’t let her quiet and friendly nature fool you—outside of work, Molly enjoys clay shooting at her local range. She also loves the outdoors and often spends her free time in the Lake District with friends, camping, hiking, or canoeing.
If you happen to speak with Molly, be sure to give her a warm welcome!
Chris joined the team in March 2025, bringing with him a background in vehicle repairs and a desire for a slightly slower-paced role so he could spend more time with his much-loved grandchildren. However, it’s fair to say the pace of deliveries, picking, and packing orders may have been a little busier than expected!
Before moving into mechanics, Chris also worked on a farm, gaining hands-on experience working with livestock—particularly cows—adding to his practical, hard-working background.
Chris has quickly become a valued and well-loved member of the team, known for his outstanding customer service and positive attitude. There’s rarely a moment when he isn’t smiling—or singing along to himself—with a cup of tea (teabag still in!) and a slice of cake close by. Whether he’s out on deliveries or meeting customers face-to-face, Chris always brings a friendly chat and a great sense of humour.
With his mechanical background, Chris has a strong foundation and is rapidly building his technical knowledge, learning more about our products every day.
Outside of work, Chris enjoys spending time with his two lively (and slightly crazy) spaniels, as well as making the most of every moment with his grandchildren—often taking them out on new adventures. While cooking may not be his strongest skill, his cake-tasting abilities are second to none!
If you see Chris out on a delivery, be sure to give him a warm welcome.
